You already know that we have cakes or cookies for breakfast in Italy, so I will spare you all the details and I will just tell you that this cake is SO GOOD you can have it also outside breakfast 🙂
Extremely easy to make, you won’t even need to melt chocolate for this breakfast cake.
Chocolate Breakfast Cake

200g flour
150g brown sugar
80g unsalted butter (softened)
40g Cocoa powder
100g Dark chocolate
10g baking powder
1 Pinch of salt
2 Eggs
240ml Whole milk
1 Teaspoon of vanilla paste or essence
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°-190°.
- Whisk together butter and sugar. Then add the eggs and mix until well combine. Add milk an vanilla and keep whisking it.
- In another bowl mix together flour, baking powder and cocoa. Add the dry ingredient to the wet ones and mix until all the ingredients have come together and the batter is smooth.
- Chop chocolate to chunks and add it to the batter. Mix well using a spatula.
- Cover a cake pan with parchment paper and spoon the batter into it. With the help of the spatula, spread the chocolate batter all over the cake pan. Put in the oven and cook for about 35-40 minutes.
- Leave to cool a bit, before removing from the parchment paper and placing on a wire rack to cool down (this will help the cake not to get soggy at the bottom).
- Serve warm.
